Aerial views of Maropeng – Photo essay of the week
Maropeng has many parts: the Tumulus Building, the Maropeng Hotel, the learner centre, the Market Place and the amphitheatre, to name a few.
Some of these aspects, like the hotel, are mostly hidden in the rolling hills. So this week, our photo essay shows you the whole picture – spectacular views of Maropeng from construction to conclusion.
The Tumulus Building in construction.
The Maropeng Visitor Centre is housed in the Tumulus Building.
The construction of the Market Place that is on the approach to the Maropeng Visitor Centre.
On arrival, you will see what looks like a massive burial mound called the Tumulus, where you enter to learn the secrets of our human ancestry.
When you first see the tumulus, it looks like a giant burial mound. When you’ve been through it and turn to see it again from the back, it’s totally transformed – it’s silver, grey and glass, hi-tech and futuristic.
