The Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site is establishing itself as a prime location for cyclists and runners who want to enjoy their sport in a beautiful and serene setting.

The Cradle of Humankind is just 55 kilometres from Johannesburg, and is the ideal location for sports enthusiasts wanting to get some exercise. This autumn why not take advantage of the inaugural Cradle Fest and the fantastic sporting opportunities on offer?

The Cradle Festival not only promises challenging mountain and road cycle races, but also an exciting trail run and a fun run/walk, all set to the ambience of live music, kids entertainment, and (for after the exercise) a food and beer tent. There is plenty to keep the whole family entertained.

Runners who are training for the Comrades marathon will be delighted that the fun run offers just enough to get your pulse racing, but it won’t throw your training schedule off track. Taking place on May 15, this fun run offers runners a relaxed 5 or 10 kilometre course through the beautiful scenery in the Cradle of Humankind.

Entries are available on race day and cost just R20 for the 5 kilometre race and R50 for the 10 kilometre one. Both prices include entry into the Cradle Festival.

The Cradle of Humankind is the place for sports enthusiasts to enjoy the outdoors while getting their adrenalin pumping.
