Voting for the 2011 local government elections took place at Maropeng on May 18. Seeing that the focus of the Maropeng Visitor Centre is the history of human evolution, it seems appropriate that our immediate future be decided at the same venue. Lindsay Marshall, curator of Maropeng, agrees. “It’s fitting to have a voting station at Maropeng,” she says. “Maropeng is central to the surrounding community. One of our staff members, Moses Molefe, was on leave, but came to work especially to vote.”
