Find out all about the Maropeng Visitor Centre at Indaba 2012
Maropeng is proud to be attending this year’s premier tourism industry meeting, INDABA 2012. Education Marketing Executive Magel van de Venter and Marketing Assistant Ntlotleng Kobue will be at the trade show that runs from May 12 to 15 at the Albert Luthuli Convention Centre, at the International Convention Centre Durban.

“This is a major opportunity for us to interact with international buyers, in an attempt to get inclusion on their itineraries and to provide them with rates for 2013,” says Maropeng MD Tony Rubin.

The Cradle of Humankind is home to a large number of fossils dating back more than 2-million years. The Maropeng Visitor Centre is an award-winning tourist attraction and is a gateway to the world of the past.

“Our presence at Indaba is to show the world that South Africa consists of more than just Table Mountain,” says Rubin. “The importance of the Cradle of Humankind as a destination of historical significance must be highlighted.”

Earlier this year, Maropeng was awarded a gold certificate of membership by the Heritage Environmental Management Company, for its commitment to sustainable business practices.

This certifies that Maropeng is a member of the Heritage Environmental Rating Programme and that it currently complies with the environmental performance standards associated with the programme’s gold classification.

Green tourism is a priority for Maropeng, explains Rubin. “With the growing importance of this trend among the travelling public, following green tourism practices is essential if you want to remain relevant.”
